Rough Cut

This is our first rough-cut of our music video, and although it is in it’s very early stages, we can see the piece coming together with the camera shots, fast-paced editing and mise-en-scene all complimenting one another.

We like the speed and the pace of the introduction, and also like the different cuts to different scenes, and we also like how the beach scene’s mise-en-scene has turned out, alongside the colourful stripes.

In terms of areas of improvement, we have noted that the marching high-heel shot urgently needs to be re-shot, as it is out of focus and was a ‘test shot’ to see how it would work; we would like to film this in a photography studio using a white background for a greater affect, and will do this within the coming days.

We also have decided that the clock animation, despite much effort, still doesn’t look as effective as it could be, so we will re-draft the clock soon to fit better with the pace of the idea.

The ‘End of Time – Cherrie’ introduction graphic also needs to be updated; we played around on Photoshop to develop a quick indent for the draft edits until we develop a proper brand identity when creating our digipak and advert, which we will begin to draft within the coming days.

We have also realized that a lot of the shots are on the screen for far too long and don’t fit with the pace of the music, so more changes will need to be made during the production to ensure we have a quicker pace and tempo which matches the beat and words of the song.

Overall, however, despite being a rough cut, we are pleased with the direction in which our video is going, and will continue to edit the piece focusing on the points raised above when making changes.
